Yeshivat Sha'alvim Provides Shelter for 250 Residents of the North

The rockets keep falling on Haifa and other cities and towns in Northern Israel , killing and injuring dozens and forcing tens of thousands to evacuate. As it has always done during prior crises and wars, Yeshivat Sha'alvim is responding to the current emergency by hosting 250 evacuees at the Yeshiva. These families, many of them poor, will be housed, fed and provided with other necessities, incl udi ng diapers and toys for their children. We do not know the duration of their stay but the Yeshiva is committed to doing everything necessary, for as long as required, to assist these individuals.

The administration of Yeshivat Sha'alvim received the following letter from our guests from the North last week:

During these difficult times for Am Yisrael, Am HaNetzach, while the war is raging in the North with threats of it spreading to Central Israel , we would like to express our feelings.

We, residents of Northern Israel - from Naharaiya, Akko, the Krieyot, and Tzfat have sought refuge here at Yeshivat Sha'alvim and are being very warmly accommodated Bechasdei Hashem and through the efforts of Yeshivat Sha'alvim, spearheaded by Reb Tzvi Kaspi in Israel and Mr. David Goldsmith in the United States. Every one of our needs are being taken of here: proper meals, spacious rooms, room cleaning, laundry service, keeping our children busy and happy and even clothes to wear - all at great expense to Yeshivat Sha'alvim.

As our sages have written: "Kol HaMatzil Nefesh Achat MiYisrael Kieelu Hetzil Olam Umelo-o". He who saves even one soul of Israel is as if he has saved an entire world. All the more so he who saves tens of families from mortar and rocket fire on their homes. Here at Yeshivat Sha'alvim, frightened and panic-stricken children have once again become happy, smiling children, stressed and tense parents have calmed down and crying mothers have dried their tears.

We would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts the Hanhala of the Yeshiva in Israel and America and all of those that have made our stay here possible, for helping our children regain their smiles, for welcoming us so warmly and unconditionally for an indeterminate amount of time.

Thank you in the name of all the residents of the North.
